When we visited Lake Bled during May a couple of years ago, it was quite cool and wet but even with gray skies and misty rain, Lake Bled’s beauty shone through. I daresay it’s beautiful in all four seasons!
Lake Bled is situated in the Julian Alps in northwestern Slovenia, where it adjoins the township of Bled. On its western side, Bled Island (which is the only natural island in Slovenia), can be seen with the church of the Assumption of Mary’s towering high above the trees. Pletna boat rides from the mainland to the island is a unique experience which takes you back in time. Mr Oz tried rowing a Pletna (which you do standing up) and whilst he’s very good at most things, he just couldn’t co-ordinate his movements giving us some amusement on the way back.
If you’re in that part of the world, it’s very picturesque and well worth a visit.
