HDP: Once Upon a Time

Well, i’ve been home for two weeks and I feel as if I’ve been run over by a freight train!

To say i’ve come down with a thud is an understatement. It went something like this: The first week was full on, catching up with some family and friends in-between getting the household up and running. I’m talking about: the fridge/freezer that was abandoned seven months ago had to be revived with electricity and food;  the bags of mail collected on our behalf (thank you Cath & Chris) had to be sorted and acted upon; the trees needed pruning; the furniture had grown a fur coat had to be seen again; the washing needed to be completed. Well you get the picture…

BUT, the highlight of that week was taking my grand daughter to see a stage production of Peppa Pig. Her very first show! God love her, she wanted to go on stage and give Peppa a cuddle. When her Mum explained that we just watch, we don’t go up there, her gentle nature returned a passive little tantrum by bending down on the floor in protest. After several attempts with the same question and answer, she finally got it and was able to enjoy the experience.

This is a photo of her before the show began. ..

Oh, the magic of a Peppa Pig windmill…

Then, this second week, I caught a virus! This meant contact with family or friends by phone only. Sleepless nights hampered by coughing fits has seen me succumb to exhaustion just on day break. Rising mid morning and walking around like a zombie with the attention span of a gold fish has done a great deal to damper my spirit. Such fog in my head, lack of clarity and energy!

As I sit deep into my lounge and close my eyes, I have a vague recollection: Once upon a time, we travelled far and wide in a land called Oz and I sigh…

About Retired2Travel

My passion has been for many, many years landscape photography so when the chance came up to retire early, in order to travel, I took it! It made sense then to marry the two (travel and photography) and create this blog. I hope you enjoy it :)

But it’s so much better to be home when you’re feeling lousy. Hope you kick the bug quickly.

Having just gotten home, I know exactly what “thud” feels like. It can be overwhelming. Take care so you will have to energy to deal with all that needs doing.

Hope you are feeling better. Post holiday blues are bad enough after a two week break. Take care of yourself as you adjust. Relax and enjoy the time remembering your travels by sorting photos, even checking bank or credit card statements.
