Weekly Photo Challenge: One Love

This week’s challenge has come at the perfect time for me!

I’m currently reading ‘What I Know for Sure’  by Oprah Winfrey and one of the topics Oprah talks about, is Self-Love.

It seems that if we are raised with any kind of abuse – be it: mental, physical, sexual or verbal, the chances are, we are sadly lacking self-love.

One Love, (1 of 1) August 2015

We look for and seek love and approval externally without knowing that until WE love ourselves, no one else can fill that void!

Funny, that so many songs has been written about this subject, but unless we’re ready to heal and move on, these songs don’t resonate with us!

I’m not talking about being selfish, egotistical or arrogant, I’m talking about loving ourselves for the magnificent person we are – warts and all!

So, I’m here to remind us,  just in case we need to hear it – one more time – that, ’Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all’ – Whitney Houston.

Stop what you’re doing,
turn up the volume,
look, and
listen
as Whitney Houston delivers her message!

💗💗💗

About Retired2Travel

My passion has been for many, many years landscape photography so when the chance came up to retire early, in order to travel, I took it! It made sense then to marry the two (travel and photography) and create this blog. I hope you enjoy it :)

Poor Whitney – I think neither she nor her daughter ever learned the lessons of her most famous song. Beautiful post.

  3. Thank you Tina. You’re right – it seems such a waste of an extraordinary person’s life!

  5. Yes, I agree with Tina. Both Whitney & her daughter missed out on being there for each other if they had just focused on loving themselves. GREAT post for the challenge. I like the way you tied it into what you’re reading. The photo is awesome.

p.s. Should the quote be Learning or leaning as you have it. This is a perfectly created post. I wouldn’t want a misspell to effect it. (Hope you don’t mind) 😊
