Hump Day Post: Postcard from Kurri Kurri

Kurri Kurri is a small town in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia and its Nostalgia Festival is now in its second decade. It has established itself as one of the Hunter’s premier festivals, featuring all things rock n roll, cars, music, fashion and dancing all from the bygone era of the 50’s.

It was like stepping back in time and although I’m not stuck in any particular era, it was refreshing to see people making the effort to dress well and look smart – just like they used to. I find it a bit sad sometimes at how our current society is so ‘casual’.

I guess that’s why they call it the ‘Nostalgia Festival’ which gets both thumbs up from me!

We visited there for a day and wished we had planned a longer stay which I’m sure to do next year as the town is also famous for its murals, so it’s worth a weekend visit.

Their website has all the information you need to make sure you have a great time at the Kurri Kurri Nostalgia Festival in 2017.

About Retired2Travel

My passion has been for many, many years landscape photography so when the chance came up to retire early, in order to travel, I took it! It made sense then to marry the two (travel and photography) and create this blog. I hope you enjoy it :)
